About

My name is Ayumi Lastiwka

Hi everyone! My name is Ayumi, and I'm originally from Japan. After a decade in Metro Vancouver, I moved to Cochrane in 2024 and have since made it my new home.

I am a certified dog trainer from The International College of Canine Behavioral Science, where I completed my training under the mentorship of Yasuko Bonkowski, a dog trainer with over 25 years of experience. I am currently enrolled in the college's Advanced Course to continue expanding my skills and services.

Since 2020, I have trained a variety of dog breeds using a positive play-and-praise reward system that focuses on building a healthy relationship between you and your canine friend. I believe in the importance of understanding dog psychology and behavior to foster trust and mutual respect.

I look forward to meeting you and your furry companion, and working together to achieve your training goals!

Our services offer one-on-one care to meet every dog's needs. Ayumi's Dog Training and Care will partner with your family to develop a custom plan that effectively blends training and care.

Training

My basic obedience training is built on a play-and-praise reward system that does not use treats or physical punishment. This method builds a foundation of strong trust and helps dogs learn emotional control in positive ways.

Private Walking

Ayumi's Dog Training and Care incorporates obedience training into every walk. Your dog won't just get physical exercise—they'll also get the mental stimulation they need for a healthy, balanced life.

Consultation Services

Interested in private lessons and walking services? We'll start with a consultation to design a custom training plan just for your dog. The plan will be tailored to their personality, breed, age, social skills, and health conditions.

Initial Training Consultation

Our in-person initial training consultations allow for a quick, on-site assessment of your dog and family. Based the results, we'll provide a personalized training plan and useful advice to help improve your relationship.

New Puppy Consultation

Thinking about getting a puppy? We'll help you through every step of the process. Our service offers essential advice on how to prepare your home and choose a puppy that will be the ideal match for your family. This consultation can be done in-person or online.
